Plant extracts with biofungicidal properties
The main goal of the CAPSILUR project is to develop a non-toxic, natural and efficient biofungicide from agrifood waste to fight crop diseases caused by soil fungi.
By combining the principles of agroecology and the advanced techniques of biotechnology, active ingredients with fungicidal and bactericidal properties will be extracted from plant remains to formulate a product with proven effectiveness and safety.
This development will also ensure the recovery of different types of agrifood waste, thus contributing towards the financial viability of different farms by improving their productivity and promoting their financial sustainability.
The value of this project is to offer a safe, viable alternative to synthetic fitosanitary products, thus minimising the environmental impact they often have on ecosystems and safeguarding biological and water resources.
The CAPSILUR project, with dossier number ZL-2021/00312, has been subsidised by the Basque Government through funds to support business R&D – HAZITEK 2021. The action is jointly funded by the Basque Government and the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund 2014-2020 (ERDF).
